Temperance-related publications in the SBA Library

The National Guardian
1889-1913; The trade paper for the licensed trade in Scotland. Volumes from 1889 to 1913. This was a staunch anti-temperance paper and includes anti-temperance articles and reports of parliamentary proceedings relating to the industry. The Mitchell Library, Glasgow has a complete series from 1889 onwards. (1889-1913 are on microfilm)

The Brewers’ Almanack
1895-1971; Includes details of parliamentary proceedings that affected the brewing trade; lists of temperance societies and newspapers; directory of trade defence societies; outcome of Local Option Veto Polls (stored off-site).
