Administrative/Biographical History

Thomas McClurg Anderson was born in Motherwell in 1899 and educated at Dalziel High School, Lanarkshire and various schools of physiotherapy. He gained various qualifications including an Incorporation of Certified Masseurs and Masseuses teacher’s certificate, 1926. Anderson carried out Military Service between 1916-1919. He then became a professional boxer, athlete and sports coach in the 1920s whilst practicing as a physiotherapist in a private practice in Motherwell, c.1922-1928. From 1928-1964, he was a physiotherapist in private practice in Glasgow, and Principal of Glasgow Physiotherapy Hospital and School, 1930s-1964. Anderson retired to St. Andrews in 1964 and died in 1980.
