Administrative/Biographical History

The Gartloch Emergency Hospital functioned between 1940 and 1945 at Gartloch Hospital in Lanarkshire, Scotland, which was ordinarily a psychiatric hospital. A number of temporary hutted wards were built and the legacy of this wartime use was a 160 bed medical unit which was not phased out until the 1960s.
